AEQUITAS is an NGO dedicated to the promotion of Human Rights Education, Citizenship Education and Intercultural Education in Cyprus. AEQUITAS has a board of 7 directors, 2 permanent staff members, 2 part time staff members, a pool of trainers and an array of volunteers. Its areas of expertise are combating racism, discrimination and hate through education along with other areas such as promoting gender equality. Since 2012, AEQUITAS has been implementing projects in the field of combatting hate, racism and discrimination with the aim of cultivating a society of pluralism, equality and justice. The methodology we use are based on principles of non-formal learning, with our trainers being highly trained on Council of Europe manuals and themes interconnected with the creation of a human rights culture. It has received funding from an array of sources as mentioned above as a means to this end. It trains groups such as young persons, teachers, non-formal educators, lawyers, social workers and more with the purpose of creating the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for such a culture.

It receives funds from the European Commission, the Cyprus Youth Board, the Anna Lindh Foundation Grant, the Open Society Foundations and the European Youth Foundation. Recent relevant activities include training courses on promoting refugee rights, combating hate speech and hate crime and fighting religious discrimination.
